From 1991 through 1997 I was a judicial clerk for the Washoe County Court system. My employment in the judicial branch allowed me to gain my first practical experience in how government interacts with its citizens. It also established a firm foundation I have built upon since elected to the Executive Branch of government in 1999 when I began my duties as County Clerk. As the County Clerk I have prepared legislation and testified at the Nevada legislature and gained invaluable experience regarding how the legislative process works. My practical experience in all three branches of government has given me a unique and comprehensive understanding of how to work within government to achieve my goal of service to the community while maintaining fiscal constraint. I am a member of the State Historical Records Advisory Board, the County Fiscal Officer’s Association, and a board member of the Nevada Clerk’s Association.
